For a homestead rooted in God’s Word is not just a place to grow food—it is a place where families grow in grace, provision, and peace. WELCOME!
We are the Thompson Family
We started The Homestead Route for a simple reason: we wanted something different for our lives and for our girls. Like many of you, we felt the pull to slow down, step away from the constant rush, and return to a more intentional way of living. A life that feels grounded, meaningful, and rooted in faith.
At first, it was small things — choosing more whole foods, questioning what was really in the products we were bringing into our home, and wanting to spend more time together as a family instead of being pulled in every direction. But over time, those small changes grew into a bigger calling: to build a homestead lifestyle centered around simplicity, health, and purpose.
We wanted to know where our food comes from. To move away from store-bought preservatives and take back control of what we feed our family. We wanted fresh air, real food, and a slower rhythm of life that allows room for what truly matters.
But more than anything, we wanted to raise our daughters in a home filled with faith. A home where they learn hard work, gratitude, and stewardship. A home where God is at the center of everything we do — from the garden rows to the dinner table.
Homeschooling became a natural part of that journey for us. It gives us the gift of time together, the freedom to learn beyond textbooks, and the ability to shape our girls’ education around real-life experiences — gardening, preserving food, caring for animals, and building life skills they can carry into adulthood.
We don’t claim to have it all figured out. We’re learning as we go, just like many of you. Some days are messy. Some days are beautiful. Most days are both. But through it all, we’re building something we believe in — a life that is slower, healthier, faith-filled, and full of purpose.
Whether you’re just beginning to dream about homesteading or you’ve already started your own journey, we hope you find encouragement here. Our prayer is that The Homestead Route becomes a place where you feel inspired, equipped, and reminded that you’re not alone in choosing a different path.
